Proposed OASAS Regulation: Part 856 Tobacco-Free Services

On July 24, 2007, the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) announced it was proposing a new regulation to make New York the first state in the nation to require tobacco-free environments and treatment of tobacco dependence in all OASAS-licensed and funded chemical dependence treatment programs. The proposed regulation, Part 856 Tobacco-Free Services, has an effective date of July 24, 2008.
